Identifying Toyota Catalytic Converters for Scrap
How to Identify and Sell Toyota Catalytic Converters with RRCats
How do I know I have an OEM Catalytic Converter?
Toyota does a nice job of stamping its logo onto its catalytic converters. They have two logos: the traditional Toyota logo we see in the States and the Japanese logo. With Toyota making and selling more cars in 2021 than any other car manufacturer, we may see more catalytic converters from these vehicles in the future. Toyota is another company that does a great job of labeling its catalytic converters with serial codes, and no one may do a better and easier job than Toyota.

What do Toyota Serial Numbers look like?
Many of their serial codes are no more than three total digits; most have either two letters and one number or two numbers and one letter.
Toyota catalytic converters often have 3-digit serial numbers made up of letters, numbers, or a combination of both. These serials are essential for correctly identifying the converter and providing an accurate quote.
In many Toyota converters, the serial number has an “L” or “R” designation, which can significantly affect the grading and final price. It’s important to send clear images of the serial number and the whole converter body so our team can quote accurately.
Common Serial Examples Are:
- GD3
- EA5
- EA6
- X16
- X18
- RE8
- B98
- L21707
- R21707
